where are you located?
my private tattoo studio is Philadelphia adjacent, located 40mins - 1hr outside of the city in a small & charming town called Coatesville, PA.
the space is inside of a multi-unit commercial building full of other creatives and businesses.

how do i book an appointment?
by first submitting an inquiry form via the “tattoo inquiry form” link under the “tattoos” menu on my site. if your desired tattoo aligns with work that i’m currently doing or a concept i’m interested in taking on, i’ll respond via e-mail to continue consultation and proceed to sending over a quote .
-
what’s your consultation process like?
the bulk of my consultation process begins with the details you provide on the inquiry form and continues throughout email. i usually do not require in person consultations, unless your tattoo idea absolutely requires one. in this case, a complimentary 15-30 min general consultation will be required during which i’ll be able to get a better grasp of the overall direction of your desired tattoo. you will be able to reserve your appointment with a deposit once consultation is complete.
-
what kind of pieces do you prefer to tattoo?
right now, i’m enjoying black/black + grey, linear focused work with a bold aesthetic. i usually share work to my online portfolio that is reflective of the style/technique that i’m currently working with or looking to do more of. if you are unsure of whether the piece you’d like fall into what i’m currently working with, please shoot your inquiry via my contact page.
-
do you do coverups?
i’m currently not doing cover ups.
-
how much do you charge?
it depends on a variety of factors such as size, details, tattoo duration estimate, design duration, etc. small tattoos up to 3” may range from $100 - $300. anything bigger will priced higher. for larger projects with indefinite factors, i charge an hourly rate beginning at $100. custom pieces begin at $300.
-
do you tattoo color?
minimally and only for small pieces up to 3”. as of now, i am mostly prioritizing black/black and grey work.
-
if i’m unable to travel to you, can i pay you to design my tattoo?
not at this time. i am currently only designing work that i am tattooing.
-
how long does it take to design a custom piece?
it depends on the details of the piece and my availability/current workload. i prefer those interested in custom pieces to allow at least 2 weeks prior to desired appointment date.
-
can i bring a drawing/design in for you to tattoo?
yes, as long as it is an original artwork drawn by you or an artist you hired and is consistent with the style of my work! please keep in mind that not all drawings/designs will translate well into tattoos and therefore may require tweaking or redesigning so flexibility will be appreciated in this regard.
-
will i see the design before my appointment?
i do not share final designs before tattoo appointments. instead, i take careful consideration of the details provided in your inquiry form and any additional information sent via email to ensure your vision is designed to the best of my ability. please note that i enjoy and create my best work when i’m entrusted with creative freedom to design something that we both can be pleased with.
final designs will be shared when you come in on the day of your appointment and may include a few variations of the design if possible. minor changes are accepted and will be made before any tattooing begins. major changes to the design is allowed once and will require a redraw fee that will be priced accordingly. this could also result in appointment being rescheduled to a later date if there is no longer enough time to redraw and tattoo in the same day. any additional changes beyond that will forfeit initial deposit and require a new appointment to be secured.
if you absolutely feel the need to share more information about your design beyond email, 20 min free phone and virtual consultations are available upon request.
-
do you travel?
i will be announcing any future travel plans via my website, to my email subscribers, and social media!

i submitted an inquiry form and still have not heard from you. what's up with that?
i do my best to respond to forms on a weekly basis, however some weeks do get heavier than others with prioritizing current scheduled appointments. if you filled out the form correctly and your concept aligns with my current work, you will receive a response in the order it was received. for tattoo requests that are not accepted, i may or may not reach back out stating so but if i do, please understand that my response will be delayed and i apologize for any inconvenience that causes. if you’ve been waiting longer than 3 weeks and think there has been some kind of mistake or that your form could’ve fallen thru the cracks, please feel free to send a follow up email.

i'm having issues uploading my references to my inquiry form. what should i do?
sometimes file sizes may exceed the limit set for image uploads on the inquiry form. if you bump into this issue, please take a screen shot of the reference image (even if it’s already a screenshot) and try re-uploading. in most instances, this reduces file size for a successful upload. if the issue continues, please email me a screen shot or image of your completed form, with your references attached to elleafrikantattoos@gmail.com.
